I love lists. If you know me, you probably already knew that.
After reading Gretchen Rubin’s list of 12 personal commandments (www.happiness-project.com), I was inspired to create my own. The Ten Commandments in Exodus and all the law can be summed up in the life and teachings of Christ: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength […] and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31)
Likewise, but yes, FAR less significant than the Biblical commands, personal commandments are meant to be small reminders of a bigger idea.
Carolyn’s Personal Commandments (I wonder if I’ll be changing these every week):
1. Be still and know God
2. Remember the victories
3. Start and finish
4. Do it now (stole this one)
5. Don’t count the sunk costs
6. Do the hardest thing first
7. Consider the lilies
8. Act beautiful: the feeling follows
11. See the person
12. Take part
Yep. Now… on to updating the bucket list. Check off: marry the best guy ever and kiss in the rain. What a great year it has been.
Peace in, two thousand eleven.
